DVB-S2 Receivers

Ultra Modem

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Karrya DVB-S2 modem is an advanced DVB-S2 receiver with a GigE forwarder and two channels/tuners.
This modem designed with satellite reception in focus, leaving routing to be handled by external device. The modem implementation is based on advanced engineering methods that eliminate the bottleneck caused by CPU load. The modem support payload rates of up to 100Mbps.
The modem can be used as receiver for MPEG-TS and encapsulate them over IP output.
The modem provides independent 100baseT management interface. Management interface support CLI, WEB and SNMP.

The DVB-S2 modem receives the DVB-S2 signal in parallel from two RF channels and De-capsulate the IP information, either from the MPEG transport stream or baseband frames. IP packets are forwarded to the default router. Multicast traffic can be forwarded directly to the network. MPEG-TS packets are encapsulated over IP and sent to the network.
The emerging new standard, DVB-S2, provides tools to improve the performance of IP over satellite networks. The advanced Forward error Correction used by DVB-S2 allows an increase in the channel capacity, and the use of existing transponders to bit rates up to 100Mbps.

This modem designed with satellite reception in focus, leaving routing to be handled by external device. The modem implementation is based on advanced engineering methods that eliminate the bottleneck caused by CPU load. The modem support payload rates of up to 100Mbps.
The modem supports DVB-S2 VCM and ACM. Implementation of ACM is based on availability of return channel (terrestrial or other). The modem can be used as receiver for MPEG-TS and encapsulate them over IP output.

The emerging new standard, DVB-S2, provides tools to improve the performance of IP over satellite networks. The advanced Forward error Correction used by DVB-S2 allows an increase in the channel capacity, and the use of existing transponders to bit rates up to 150Mbps.

Modulation scheme became more sophisticated with DVB-S2. The support for VCM and ACM give operators tools to further optimize the use of the space segment. VCM allows optimization of C-Band links by assigning different FEC to different terminals on different contours. ACM optimize Ku-band links by setting dynamically the MODCO per terminal.
Encapsulation of IP over the MPEG-TS was optimized by the introduction of Generic Streams that provides even higher efficiency when using DVB-S2
